Greg Martin, author of the Dispatch Me Home series, is no stranger to the world of trucking. He began his career as a swamper for Mayflower Lines in Indio, California and later, became a motor transport officer in the US Marine Corps, and spent some time working with a fleet of trucks in waste management. This movie project has long been Greg’s passion. “What’s important,” he says, “is to spotlight the industry in a good light and present a positive stereotype. There are a lot of career opportunities in trucking for hard-working men and women, it’s an opportunity to become your own person.” Martin knows he has something good here that could go in many directions. It could spawn a truck radio serial, a book, or even a compilation CD of the great music he wants to include. But most importantly, he believes the timing for the film could not be better. “Nostalgia for a kinder, gentler time has been proven to have therapeutic benefits in today’s often stress-filled times. If anything, the Covid-19 lockdown has made us appreciate the great outdoors and the relationships we have with family and friends. Dispatch Me Home is a portrait of one man’s life in the trucking industry, an occupation that is proving more vital as retail sales shift to online marketplaces. It’s time to honor those folks.”

He has produced over 30 commercial CDs of recordings from the show and his second book on the subject, Cradle of the Stars, was named the #1 book in the Radio History category and the #5 book in the Country Music category for Best Sellers on Amazon.
